Numista is a unique platform to learn, collect, swap and share about numismatics. With Numista you can search for coins and exonumia, collect them, manage your collections and a lot more cool stuff.
NUMISTAR is a slick and beautiful gallery for users with a Numista account. Easily import your coins and exonumia and filter, sort, search and share your collections.
No, that's not possible and it's not planned to make this possible in the future. You need a Numista account in order to import coins.
No. NUMISTAR is passwordless. When you sign in we email you a magic link (and a one-time code) — just open the link from that email and you're in. There is no password to remember or reset.
Yes. On the start, login, or registration page, choose "Continue with Google". You can still use the passwordless magic link sent to your email as well — both sign-in methods lead to the same account as long as they share a verified email address.
Yes. Every sign-in email also contains a six-digit code, just below the button. Type it into the field on the page where you asked for the email and you are signed in on that device. The code is valid for one hour and, once you sign in with it successfully, cannot be reused.
You can create a Numista API key on the Numista API documentation page.
Your Numista API key will only be stored on your local device (in the localstorage of your browser).
Yes. An import can bring in up to 1,000 coins. Numista limits how many requests we may make to their API each month, and every coin costs a couple of them — so we set the cap ourselves to keep imports working for everyone. It is not a limit of the Numista catalogue.
It depends on how large your collection is — a few seconds for most, up to about a minute for a very large one. While it runs, the dialog tells you how many coins are on their way. The import keeps going even if you close the page; just reload once it has finished to see your coins.
You can edit your coin data on Numista and then re-import your coins to NUMISTAR.
You find the RE-IMPORT COINS button in the profile dialog. Just click the profile icon in the top right corner of the screen.
Filters, sorting settings and the search term are part of the app's URL, so it's possible to simply bookmark your current filtered gallery page if want to keep this information.
Yes. The theme switch cycles through three states: light, dark, and auto. In auto mode NUMISTAR follows your operating system's appearance setting.
Coin images come from Numista and may be licensed by their respective authors. Where Numista provides copyright and license information, we display it alongside the image to credit the original source.
The one you set on Numista. Your prices are stored there in a single currency, and NUMISTAR takes it from your import — there is nothing to configure here. If you change it on Numista, import again and your collection follows. Coins imported before this feature existed show euros until you re-import.
Because we have no exchange rate for your currency. Precious metals are priced in US dollars per troy ounce worldwide, so we show the material value there rather than converting it wrongly or hiding it. Your purchase prices are unaffected and stay in your own currency.
The "Material value" is calculated based on the rates available via metalpriceapi.com for XAU, XAG and XPT only.
Yes. You can create a public, read-only link to your current gallery view. Anyone with the link can browse that collection without a Numista or NUMISTAR account. Shared collections are not indexed by search engines.
No. A shared link is a frozen snapshot of your gallery taken at the moment you created it. Later imports, edits or filter changes do not affect an existing link. To share an updated view, create a new link.
One figure is deliberately not frozen: the material value. The coins, their weights and their materials are fixed at share time, but what that metal is worth is recalculated from the current precious-metal prices every time the link is opened. A link you shared in June shows June’s collection at today’s prices.
Only the coin catalogue data of the view you shared — titles, issuers, materials, images and so on. Private details are never included: prices you paid, personal collection names and your account identity are all stripped out before the snapshot is created.
Yes. New links expire after 7 days by default; you can choose 30 days or no expiry instead, and you can revoke any share at any time to make the link stop working.
The link stops working for visitors, but it stays in your list marked as expired, so you can see what you shared and when. You can renew it with one click, which gives the same link another 7 days — visitors then see exactly the snapshot you originally shared, unchanged. To share your collection as it looks today, delete the link and create a new one.
Up to 20 per account. Expired links count towards that, so if you reach the limit, delete the ones you no longer need.
You can download a JSON export of your profile and full collection from the profile dialog. This covers your right to data access and portability under the GDPR (Art. 15 and 20).
You can delete your account from the profile dialog. This permanently removes your account together with your collection data from NUMISTAR. Your data on Numista is not affected.
Only if you opt in. New users are asked once, in the welcome screen, whether they'd like to receive occasional product news. You can change your choice at any time, and every marketing email includes an unsubscribe link.
